Harry Reid Reads Democracy Arsenal Posted by Michael Cohen

A couple of days ago, I wrote a post that attacked Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid for taking a pragmatic approach toward Iraq and offering legislation that will seek compromise with Senate Republicans as opposed to holding their feet to the fire for opposing withdrawal.

Well I'm pleased to say that solely because of my words, Reid has completely reversed course:

After weeks of suggesting Democrats would temper their approach to Iraq legislation in a bid to attract more Republicans, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid declared abruptly Tuesday that he had no plans to do so.

The Democratic leader said he will call for a vote this month on several anti-war proposals, including one by Sen. Carl Levin that would insist President Bush end U.S. combat next summer. The proposals would be mandatory and not leave Bush wiggle room, said Reid, D-Nev.

"There (are) no goals. It's all definite timelines," he told reporters of the planned legislation.

Good for Harry! It's so rare to see an esteemed politician realize the error of his/her ways due solely to provocative and insightful blogging!

Now if only I could get President Bush to read Democracy Arsenal.

What I need is a real sign of hope/help. I have asked,begged and numerous times talked with you people. With the exception of Yolonda (carson city) they could care less. I have a bad mortgage company that has changed papers and in the middle of trying to work with them, sold it to another company. I now (be cause nevada won't help) have to file complaints with Ca and NY. If we are lucky our home will only be gone a few months when you respond. WE have a good case and are disabled living on SSI only. Tell me how we got a losn for over $310,000.00 on less than 32,000.00 a year? The papers are so bad even the loan company can't figure them out. This is sad because I somewhat understand. But the new company/ny thinks I lied and is determined to take our home on gp. I fought tooth-n-nail for the public option. I told Obama's clowns to stop calling me. When the DNC called to ask that I contact my senator to push for health care reform to pass the senate, I called and asked both senators to vote against the bill. I knew they wouldn't, but I wanted people to know I wasn't happy about the compromised and the comprises. Still, Harry Reid pulled it off...better men and greater politicians have been trying for more than a century and Harry "got'ter done"...pretty damned impressive!
