Jon Stewart & GOP Balderdash: You've Got to See This.
Posted by Kelsey Hartigan
Earlier this week, Sarah Palin attempted to falsely compare elements of the Nuclear Posture Review to a situation on a playground where a child allows a bully to sucker-punch him without retaliating— probably the highest level of complexity that the ex-governor can actually comprehend when it comes to nuclear weapons policy. Her blatant lies and mischaracterizations echo comments made by Newt Gingrich and the never-confirmed Ambassador, John Bolton. Fringe conservatives are increasingly rejecting the views and advice of our nation’s most elite military and national security experts and putting American security at risk.
Confident in his strong, secure nonproliferation policies, President Obama’s smartly replied to those who are more interested in pursuing political agendas than they are in protecting our national security: "I would say to them is that if the secretary of defense and the chairman of the Joints Chiefs of Staff are comfortable with it, I'm probably going to take my advice from them and not from Sarah Palin," he said.
All you need to know about the current state of play re: nukes and GOP balderdash is captured below by the one and only, Jon Stewart.
Hilarious. And unfortunately, very true.
