Herzliya Dispatch #3: Fayyad tells it like it is
Posted by Joel Rubin
Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad cut to the chase and declared that the Palestinians will build their own state now, so that by mid-2011, they'll have created the political pressure necessary to conclude a two-state deal (if they don't have a deal by then). Clearly articulating his vision to a skeptical audience, who nonetheless greeted him with warmth, Fayyad made a powerful case as to why the Palestinians are standing their ground on a settlement freeze, yet not holding back on creating a better future for themselves. He left the dais to significant applause.
