Her speech is full of snide remarks and falsehoods about Obama. Standard wing nut fare and to be expected. It also makes all the media badgering seem completely ridiculous. She's throwing rocks but won't do an interview? Maybe then we can find out more about her views on Alaskan secession, Pat Buchanon, Jews for Jesus, her abuse of her power, her lack of belief in global warming, etc. etc.

I cannot wait for this election to be over. When there's no election, the Democracy Arsenal posts I read every day are full of even-handed, insightful analysis. Since the election has been going in earnest, I'm spammed with five iterations of 'Republicans suck!' a day.

A fascinating convention, in which a series of also-rans united behind a man they claim to respect. Yesterday, we had Fred Thomson, with his phony drawl and strong jaw, finally waking up like Rip Van Winkle to venerate the military prowess of the flyboy who dated "the Flame of Florida" and drove a Corvette, and turncoat Lieberman, pitching his speech to people found nowhere in the hall, the Democrats somewhere out in TV-land who were like, totally not listening to him. Tonight, we got Carly Fiorina, poor dear, who clearly knew she was far more qualified to fill out this ticket than Palin, and completely mucked up her timing as a result, garnering little applause from a restive audience. We got a rabid Romney, with his absurd claim that the Roberts Supreme Court is liberal because it gave civil rights to "terrorists," somehow not realizing that all people are entitled to civil rights until we lawfully determine they are terrorists, and then, we take their civil rights away and punish them. He apparently thinks that he knows a terrorist when he sees one, and his audience agreed, enthusiastically. Then we got Guiliani, a cross-dressing, choice-mongering easterner if ever there was one, smirking his way through a speech that would have fallen flat in front of anything but an audience of die-in-the-last-ditchers. As for Palin, talk about preaching to the converted -- this woman is going to benefit greatly from a wholesome defeat to crown her career. Her smugness is powerfully off-putting, and for that I am so grateful. My favorite Palin is, however, her daughter Bristol, whose pain I can feel quite clearly. I'd get pregnant myself if it would get me away from Sarah Palin.

As per the Republican party, this was supposed to be Sarah Palin's American "coming-out". During her speech, she was very condescending, sarcastic, and came across as someone who could be vindictive. She doesn't have the experience to level the judgments and critiques she did during that speech. I found it upsetting when they kept flashing to her newborn; he was flacid and they were passing him around like a hot potato. As a new parent, it sickened me when her husband waved the baby's hand. She is not what America needs.
