Live Blogging - Bush on Iraq
Posted by Suzanne Nossel

Optimistic to think the new government will be formed in a matter of weeks . . . months is more like it, unfortunately.

He refers to "Constitutional democracy in the heart of the Middle East."   Does he mean Israel?

Careful phrasing to the effect that we did not find WMD, but stopping just short of saying there was no WMD.

Very confusing formulation - seeming to admit responsibility for the flawed intelligence, yet dismiss the importance of what was - bar none - the primary rationale for the war.

Reminds me of the Fonz trying to admit to a mistake.

Asks:  are we creating more problems than we're solving?  Says no, because global terrorist movement is on the march . . . they view the world as a giant battlefield, seeking to attack us wherever they can (and Iraq has become an opportune proving ground for them -- it wasn't before but it is now).

Oh, I feel it coming -- if we weren't fighting them there, we'd be fighting them here.   He said it.
